The World Mind offers American University undergraduates an opportunity to both improve their analytical skills and share their work with the world. We are a team comprised of committed and passionate Staff Writers and Editors, united in the shared interest in international affairs. One of the greatest priorities for The World Mind is to diversify its content and bring in dynamic insights as we continue to expand.

Staff Writers

We are currently seeking undergraduate students with a passion for writing and international affairs to join our team of Staff Writers. In this position, individuals gain experience in the publishing processes, while advancing their writing, research, analytical, and collaborative skills. Our mission is to apply academic theory to real-world events around the globe.

Responsibilities include:

  • Active and consistent engagement with current affairs

  • Brainstorming story ideas to pitch and/or write

  • Research and write original articles (volume based on individual availability)

  • Collaborate with editors and revise based on feedback

Editors

Editors are responsible for both writing original pieces as well as reviewing and editing other students' work. 

Every piece published at The World Mind undergoes multiple rounds of editing with the goal of improving two main goals:

  1. The quality of writing, specifically in terms of clarity, concision, and grammer.

  2. The strength of analysis and argument, ensuring that the each piece maintains logical coherence and supported claims.

Individuals interested in this position should be passionate and knowledgeable about international relations and theory, excellent writers, and committed to upholding high-quality professional standards.
